Oh the places you'll go

I was nobody. When I first came to Millbrook I had no Friends and no one to talk to. I had just moved to Raleigh from Cary and had to start from scratch. Luckily though, i was outgoing enough to make some friends to sit with at lunch and talk to in class. My favourite part of freshman year was the non-honors English class I was in. I'm 95% sure I was adopted by a gangster. His name was Travis and he would come to class high af and call me "son". Kind of creepy but he showed me the ways of the streets and told me that one day I was going to be the realest thug there is. S/O to you homie. I'm pretty sure he dropped out to be a professional street thug. That class was full of ratchets and i haven't taken an academic class since. But at the same time I am glad to have gained the perspective of the hood. Outside of school freshman year was boring. The only real benefit of it (other than life lessons from Travis) was the social skills that i gained from having to make new friends. That contributed heavily to my personality. Sophomore year was better because I made some real friends and hung out outside of school. I took a stats class where I learned that asking your class if anyone had gonorrhea will get you an F on your project grade. Just letting you know Mrs. Early that the rubric did not specify what we had to survey people on.

I would like to say that high school really began when I started the IB program. The first year was kind of messy due to me not knowing any of you guys. And English was boring because all we did was read feminist articles and annotate. I did have fun debating with people tho *cough* Annie. Towards the end of Junior year I had made some new friends and had become adjusted to the lifestyle of IB.

Senior year is where it's at though. I learned a lot about writing and literature from Mrs. G and a lot of history from Hoskdog. I "learned" a lot of "math" from James and bio from George. While I learned a lot and learning is great and you mainly go to school to learn, information isn't really what i took away from this year. I learned a lot about my self and made some of my closest friends. I honestly didn't know it was possible to have such a close relationship with your classmates yet I find that it will be really hard to leave this family behind next year. Thanks for the amazing senior year fam.

Walt Whitman's Witty Writings

Part One:

Until recently I thought it was impossible to have handwriting that was worse than mine, but Walt Whitman lived up to his name and comforted me by having handwriting that makes mine look legible. While trying to decipher the criptic messeges left by Charles Darwin - I mean Walt Whitman, i saw various uses of the word "welcome" which kind of gives a summary of Leaves of Grass. But that's all i could get from the writing so now im just going to pretend im reading a text book and just focus on the pictures.

The first picture that i saw was of a man with a beard. Since his (or her im not one to judge) beard is not up to par with the white mage himself im only going to assume that it is his life partner. His life parter kind of looks like old Ernest Hemingway. In the next picture we see Hemingway with his hand (yes hand not hands) outstretched. Maybe he is reaching for the meaning of life. Or maybe he is trying to grasp the beuty of nature. Or maybe he is trying to catch the 18 foot marlin. We may never know. He then draws the cat in the hat. But it looks like Ernest Hemingway. Ernest Hemingway in the hat. Walt Whitman is my Idol. Lastly there is a heart, skeleton, hat-wearing diety that has been impaled with a sword.

Part Two:

The first tag says that those alien symbols are peoples names, or in this case the name of a tailor. This strengthens Whitman's immage as a common man and helps him understand and relate to the common people. Then he started lowkey creeping on Lincon and started having conversations with him in his notebook. Perfectly normal. Then he gives some wisdom on religion which further portrays him as accepting and kind as wll as open minded. It sets the mood for the embracing tone of his work.

The sketches in the notebook are of Whitman. He passed his notebook around to strangers and liked to turn up at bars. He is apperently hammered in the second sketch. I also found out that the secret identity of Ernest Hemingway in the hat is actually Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman in the hat. who woulda thought. The heart creature was supposed to represent America being stabed and reacting with "lol oh well, what can u do". Walt Whitman is one majestic creature.

The AmeriCAN Dream

What is the American Dream?

The American dream is the ability to seize America's opportunities and become whatever you want to become. As long as you put in effort and strive to reach your goals you can do anything. Unlike other cultures or countries, you are not bound by class or race. You attend school with people from all walks of life and are free to become what you wish. The American Dream is for AmeriCANS not AmeriCAN'TS

You see some people define wealth as being surrounded by a caring family and nice friends, but my definition of wealth only needs one word: Money. (and some homies to chill with on your private Yacht)

Right now in America people give a bad undertone to the poor and the rich. Poor because they are seen as useless members of society and the rich because they are associated with greed. In my opinion you can't judge poor people because you don't know their story but at the same time if they are not doing anything to better their life why should they be respected? Wealthy people are often seen as greedy. This may be true but they worked hard to get to where they are in life so they should be respected. I mean money doesn't just fall from the sky. (unless you're making it rain at the club) (but you would have to be rich to do that) (rich people:1 poor people:0)

In the booming (roaring) 1920's the weather was perfect for AmeriCANs. If I had lived then i would of Started my own medical practice and would of gotten rich because i know so much more about medicine now than anyone else did back then. (I would of also averted the holocaust probably). Then i would throw some baller parties with the most fire Jazz music the world has ever seen.

Ideas That Spread, Win

How to get your ideas to spread
Seth Godin https://www.ted.com/talks/seth_godin_on_sliced_bread

Seth Godin is an entrepreneur and blogger who thinks
about the marketing of ideas in the digital age. He studies how ideas are spread and how to spread them. In his ted talk he uses pathos, ethos and logos to convey his message.

Pathos: He makes the audience laugh constantly to keep their attention.

Ethos: He establishes himself as an expert in the Field of marketing. He also has testimony from Business Weekly.

Logos: Godin uses logic and reasoning to explain his statements and help you understand them.

In How to get your ideas to spread, Seth Godin talks about how businesses become successful and how people become successful by spreading their ideas. He uses the phrase "Ideas that Spread, Win". this means that if you want a product or belief to be successful, then the idea of that product or belief has to spread. How does an idea spread?

Seth said that an idea spreads if it is "remarkable". You might think that remarkable is a cliche word that holds little meaning nowadays, but Seth told the audience something completely different. He said that remarkable means anything worth making a remark about. this is important because for an idea to spread someone has to say "wow that's a good idea". Someone has to make a remark about that product to his friends and so on and so on.

In today's world in regards to products people have a copious amount of options and a minuscule amount of time. because of this Seth says that we should stop marketing to the general public and only market to the 1% of consumers who have an interest in your type of product and are always on the lookout for new ideas. marketing to them will cause them to make remarks about the product to their friends and co-workers thus getting the ball rolling.

I found this Ted Talk really interesting because in life you will always have situations in which you will hae to convince someone else to accept your point of view or ideas about something. It also gave me a lot of insight on the culture that we are currently a part of. A culture of thousands of products and new ideas everywhere while we barely have any time to explore them all.

Hecate

1. Supernatural (obviously)

Ambition? Masculinity? Blood? Prophecies?
Did you mean: Supernatural

Supernatural is a show about two brothers named Sam and Dean that travel around the country curing towns of supernatural illnesses such as ghosts, demons, ghouls, witches and a whole assortment of evil entities. occasionally they get help from an angel named Cas who wears a trench coat. All other angels are dicks. I would further explain the plot of this show, but it doesn't have one.

Hecate is probably Supernatural's biggest fan considering the fact that the show has witches, prophecies, potions, and a whole array of dark stuff, he'd fit right in. Hecate was recomended this show because of his interests in Prophecies, Magic, Witches, and Evil.

2. The X-Files

The X-Files is about two detectives that try to uncover government
conspiracies and extraterrestrial activities.

Hecate would love this because of how he is one of the few people who are involved in supernatural events.

3. Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a series of movies about a boy named Harry Potter. He, and a lot of other people, have magical powers and have to fight bad guy(s) that also have magical powers. The series is centered around the trio Harry, Ron, and the main protagonist, Emma Watson.

Hecate would love this show because it has Witches and magic. . The fact that this was recommended for Hecate shows his inclination for the supernatural.

4. Hellboy

Hellboy is a series of movies about a demon child who was summoned by Nazi scientist during WW2 who, after a while starts working with the side of good to fight evil monsters. ( not making this up)

Hecate would love this because it incorporates mysterious evil entities, such as himself
