The AmeriCAN Dream
What is the American Dream?
The American dream is the ability to seize America's opportunities and become whatever you want to become. As long as you put in effort and strive to reach your goals you can do anything. Unlike other cultures or countries, you are not bound by class or race. You attend school with people from all walks of life and are free to become what you wish. The American Dream is for AmeriCANS not AmeriCAN'TS
You see some people define wealth as being surrounded by a caring family and nice friends, but my definition of wealth only needs one word: Money. (and some homies to chill with on your private Yacht)
Right now in America people give a bad undertone to the poor and the rich. Poor because they are seen as useless members of society and the rich because they are associated with greed. In my opinion you can't judge poor people because you don't know their story but at the same time if they are not doing anything to better their life why should they be respected? Wealthy people are often seen as greedy. This may be true but they worked hard to get to where they are in life so they should be respected. I mean money doesn't just fall from the sky. (unless you're making it rain at the club) (but you would have to be rich to do that) (rich people:1 poor people:0)
In the booming (roaring) 1920's the weather was perfect for AmeriCANs. If I had lived then i would of Started my own medical practice and would of gotten rich because i know so much more about medicine now than anyone else did back then. (I would of also averted the holocaust probably). Then i would throw some baller parties with the most fire Jazz music the world has ever seen.

I literally love your post so much and I made my friends read it. It's hilarious. But down to the actual good stuff, I think that your blog really made it easy to understand your whole thought process of why you think the way that you do. I think that one thing you said about how different cultures have labels immediately, I think that was a bit of a generalization, but otherwise I think that your blog was good, and funny.
ReplyDeleteWOW I LOVE YOUR TITLE!!!!!! ITS THE SAME AS MINE I'M SO PROUD!!!! (Unless you copied me...) I don't really agree with your opinion of money and wealth and how those influence happiness. Do you think you could still be happy if all money disappeared/lost all worth? However, I loved your opinions on reality and what really happens in our society. I also really liked your connection to the 1920s (GATSBY YEAH). How do you think the definition of wealth has changed from the 1920s to today? Why and with what effects?
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I just realized that I read your blogs in my head with your voice (so there's that). Second, like Annie, I disagree with the whole Money = Happiness situation, but I agree that spending money can lead to having some fun with your homies. You mentioned social stigmas with the rich and poor, but are their any stereotypes with the middle class?
ReplyDeleteJose, your title rocks. Like the others, I disagree that money is the key to happiness, but I agree that money can lead to fun things. I also really like what you said about "..you can't judge poor people because you don't know their story but at the same time if they are not doing anything to better their life why should they be respected"? It brings up a lot to think about and it's something my mom has always told me. Do you think that your perspective would change on the definition of wealth, if you were put in a worse situation? Your blog is killin' it this week, as you brought up some very good points. (Jose:1 Blog:0)
ReplyDeleteJose, your blog posts never disappoint. I thought that it was really interesting in your comparison that as a general rule poor people are seen as useless and rich people are seen as greedy. I find this quite a large fallacy because as a general rule the poor class is our blue collar workers whom actually create the quantitative products of our society. Using this logic the poor would be the most productive in society not the least. alternatively, the highest percentage of donations to charity come from the wealthy. Bill Gates has given over 28 billion dollars to charities alone. In this way i'd argue that many wealthy people are very giving. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour last paragraph is absurd. WHAT.
